We’re so excited here in the Forest because the first of the fireflies have emerged already – they must have been excited too!
Our 2013 Firefly Season opens this weekend NOVEMBER 9 and we have lots of celebrations planned until it finishes on Sunday December 21. Firefly Magic is a unique festival at the Australian Rainforest Sanctuary which is also known locally as the Forest of Tranquility. Unfortunately, Australia also had an early start to its bushfire season with a hotter than expected Spring. This has resulted in long periods of dry conditions and heavy smoke in the air as fires are battled and burn-offs begin. Because of this, our Wizard Costume event scheduled for the opening weekend has been re-scheduled to the closing weekend.
Throughout the season there will be musical evenings and workshop activities happening and we suggest that you check with us before planning your visit to find out what’s on – or what may be rescheduled due to weather conditions.
That enchanting hour between day and night is when creatures of the forest stir from their afternoon slumbers and venture out to play. The Fireflies come out at Dusk and like humidity. However they do vary nightly, so we suggest the evening is deemed an opportunity for a twilight stroll and evening picnic. A torch is recommended – for footsteps – not for viewing.
Firefly Magic Entry Prices ( excluding Sat Nights) :
Pension Card Concession $15.00 Children $15.00
Family (2 adults, 2 children) $65.00
Local weather variabilities make bookings essential for Firefly Magic – (02) 4362 1855 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Mid November to mid December is an exciting time of the year at the Forest ….. it’s FIREFLY SEASON.
This is the mating season for the Atyphella lychnus or Firefly and there’s always a spectacular show in this beautiful setting. Of course, the numbers of fireflies will vary each year depending on natural influences such as rainfall, humidity, and temperature. But after dark, in the Forest, regardless of numbers, you won’t be disappointed with this amazing natural light show.
You will need to book if you’re coming along and you can do that via the website. It’s important to wear walking shoes and to carry a torch [for footsteps only]. Early Bird tickets are available – simply contact us via email: email@example.com
